More Information

No-Name Rag is my second rag for piano and was written when I was a freshman in college in 2006.  Like my first, Tidal Wave Rag, it is heavily influenced by the ragtime of Scott Joplin, although this rag is bit more adventuresome thanks to the influence of some William Bolcom rags I was playing at the time.  I originally didn't know what to call the piece, which inspired what I think is a pretty good name for a rag!

This piece was originally engraved in the first notation software I ever had (Cakewalk Score Writer which I bought for $20 while in middle school) which I no longer can find.  I still think this is one of my best early works and an enjoyable rag, but I realized recently that I only had a couple hard-copy sketches and drafts still in my possession.  This Sibelius-engraved edition was created in 2015, and I did make a few changes from the original in order to make the notation clearer.

Premiered January 23, 2007 with the composer at the piano at Baldwin Wallace University, Berea, OH.
