More Information

I began my Mini-Concerto for Piano and 9 Players in May 2016 and completed it in September of the same year, with some revisions done in January 2017 and September 2019.  As a pianist, I have always been fascinated with piano concerti and have written both a large-scale piano concerto with chamber orchestra and a concertino for piano and wind ensemble.  This “mini-concerto” is a relentlessly fast “perpetuum mobile,” my most compact and intense concerto yet.

Premiered November 14, 2019 by Kevin Wang-piano and the Eastman Graduate Composers’ Sinfonietta, Austin Chanu-conductor, at the Eastman School of Music, Rochester, NY.

What People are Saying

Wow, pretty amazing. The piece has so much life in it. Life, full of chaos.
