More Information

Kaleidoscope for Organ was begun in early 2022 and completed in September of the same year.  It was composed for a premiere performance on the historical Hildebrant organ in Naumburg, Germany by organist Alexander Little as part of the “Composing the Future” project organized by Professor Martin Herchenröder of the University of Siegen in collaboration with the Eastman School of Music.  The work is primarily an exploration of different alternating interval series that overlap to create [025] and, in the final section, [027] trichords.  Despite how technical that sounds, the aural effect to me is much like looking through a kaleidoscope where the same materials are used in different combinations and rotate and unfold in different ways to create a gradually shifting aural landscape.

Premiered April 29, 2023 by Alex Little at the Hildebrant organ of St. Wenzel City Church in Naumburg, Germany.

What People are Saying

Some spicy dissonances going on here... not easy to follow, but very atmospheric and eerie...
