De Profundis for SSAATTBB Choir was written in April and May 2020 for the Schola Cantorum of Christ Church, Rochester, NY, directed by Stephen Kennedy. I composed most of the music before finding a text that would fit with it, and I ended up settling on using just the first verse of Psalm 130:
De Profundis clamavi ad te, Domine.
(Out of the depths I have cried out to you, O Lord.)
This work was composed during the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020.
