More Information

A Meditation on Mercy for Concert Band is an arrangement of the Kyrie Eleison from my Missa Brevis for SATB Choir and was written in May 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic of that year.  The topic of mercy and compassion is something I have been thinking about a lot during the past several tumultuous years for my country and the greater world.  I firmly believe that each of us needs to cultivate more mercy and compassion for all other beings if we are to have a brighter, better, and happier future.  This work is a meditation on these oftentimes overlooked virtues.

Premiered March, 24, 2022 by the Bear Creek School Concert Band, Kelsey Thompson-conductor, Redmond, WA.
